CHANGE IN ECONOMIC LIFE DUE TO NREGP

                       

               It is believed that NREG programme has brought a marked difference in the standard of living of the people especially people living in the rural side of the country. The present study also has brought the same result. The table 2 given below explains the changes in the standard of living of the people.

The table 2 shows the economical changes made possible after the implementation of NREG Programme among the Paniya tribes. According to the survey around 76.66% of the people opined that the NREGP job has made improvement in the standard of living of them. At the same time around 23.33% people opined that the NREGP could not make any improvement in their economic condition.

 

 

  Major findings

The investigator has analysed the various social and economic indicator of Paniya community after the implementation of NREGs job. From the survey it was found that the majority of house hold could increase their income after joining the NREGs job. Around 66.% of house hold had 0increased their consumption as a result of the increase in their income after implementing the programme. It was also observed that66% of households started saving their money by joining in chits and other small saving programmes.

The study reveals that as an average a family gets an average annual income of RS 15266.66 from NREGs work. It is an additional income to many families for last few years. Therefore this income indirectly improves the standard of living of Paniya communities. The study also found that consumption and savings of the people have been increased after the implementation of the programme. It is also observed that mainly women are participated in NREGP jobs and therefore it has indirectly improved their standard of living.
